Important PEO Questions:

Question to Ponder about PEOisms

HR Outsourcing and Professional Employer Organization (PEO) business has permeated every corner of the American economy.  Outsourcing of employer obligations and duties is a very common practice for nearly every industry. Hospitals, colleges, state and federal government, cities, transportation and private industry all use specialty service providers to outsource everything from running the company cafeterias, janitorial services, security services, attorneys, payroll services, employee benefits, building maintenance, human resources management and CFO for hire.

For a buyer of PEO/Outsourcing services, it is sometimes difficult to tell which company can best satisfy their unique business needs.  PEOs come in all shapes and sizes.  Some operators focus on cheap health insurance, some focus on full service HR support, while others focus on avoiding worker compensation cost.  So, you have made the decision to jump into the PEO business. It is now important to decide, “What kind of a PEO do you want to become?”

  • To help you in your task, we have put together some questions for you to ask yourself.

    1. How do you set yourself apart and not blend in with all the other providers out there?
    2. Why should people use you?
    3. What makes you different?
    4. What’s your value Proposition?
    5. Is the workers compensation coverage program fully insured?
    6. Will I just be a PEO or will I offer ASO as well?
    7. Will we offer HR Consulting services?
    8. Will we offer HR advice or will we outsource it? What are the Pros and Cons?
    9. Is there an advantage of being a Certified PEO? Does it help set you apart from others?
    10. Does EPLI help differentiate who you are?
    11. How will you set up your service offering?
    12. How will you execute it more efficiently than the others?
    13. When starting a PEO should I consider a White Label option to create more efficiency?

Before you get started, it is important you ask the right questions and understand the risks and obligations of being “an” employer. The HR Outsourcing industry is extremely rewarding and very beneficial to the clients you serve. Starting out right will let you take yours to the next level quickly!
